- Gather strategic, timely and progressive policy solutions into a Progressive Platform that will concretely improve the quality of life for the people of Oakland
- Host timely trainings and briefings on issues that directly impact our member organizations
OPEN is one part of a long-term strategy to build progressive political power in Oakland by engaging more and more organizations in envisioning and creating a future based on progressive values. As part of that strategy, we have developed and adopted a platform of progressive policy solutions that we hope our local elected officials will support and implement.
Our member organizations represent parents; youth; African-Americans, Indigenous people and other people of color; labor, environmental and immigrant justice advocates; and other political groups. Currently, the combined members of OPEN represent more than 28,000 Oakland residents, and more than 44,000 people in the region.
